Need help choosing a jewellery size?

Ring Sizing

Looking for a new ring or choosing a ring as a gift for a loved one? Here are two ways to measure for ring size at home.

Once you have your measurement, refer to our table below to find the correct ring size, or to convert from one ring size scale to another.

Method 1: Finger circumference

You'll need:

1. A flexible measuring tape OR a piece of string / a thin strip of paper and a ruler

2. The finger you want to wear the ring on!

Step 1: Place the measuring tape around the finger you want to wear the new ring on to measure the circumference.

Alternatively you can mark string or a strip of paper to the circumference of your finger, and measure that length against a ruler.

Step 2: Refer to the Circumference column in the table below.

Method 2: Ring diameter

You'll need:

1. An existing ring that fits the finger you want to wear the new ring on

2. A ruler or a measuring tape

Step 1: Place your ring over the measuring tape or ruler. Measure across the widest distance between two points on the inside of the ring to get a diameter.

Step 2: Refer to the Diameter column in the table below to find your ring size.

This method works best if the ring is a gift and you don't want to ask for the size. But makes sure you choose a ring that is worn on the same finger the new ring is for.

Once you have measured the finger or ring, use the table below as a guideline to determine your ring size or compare your usual ring size to our major ring brands.

Bracelet & necklace sizing

Bracelet size guide

❤ Choosing the correct bracelet size helps ensure your jewellery is comfortable to wear and sits beautifully on the wrist.

❤ To measure your wrist, wrap a flexible measuring tape around your wrist just below the wrist bone, where you would normally wear a bracelet.

❤ If you do not have a measuring tape, use a piece of string or paper and measure it against a ruler.

❤ Most bracelets are designed to sit slightly loosely on the wrist. As a guide, add around 1–2 cm to your wrist measurement depending on how snug or relaxed you prefer the fit.

❤ If you are unsure which size to choose, our team at Niche Jewellery will be happy to help you find the perfect bracelet size.

Necklace length guide

❤ Necklace length affects how a piece of jewellery sits and complements different necklines and styles.

❤ The most common necklace length is 18 inches (approximately 45 cm), which sits just below the collarbone and suits many pendant and chain styles.

❤ Shorter necklaces such as 16 inches (around 40 cm) sit closer to the neck, while longer chains such as 20–24 inches (50–60 cm) fall lower on the chest for a more relaxed look.

❤ Layering necklaces of different lengths is a popular way to create a personalised style and add depth to your jewellery.

❤ If you are choosing a necklace as a gift and are unsure of the correct length, an 18 inch (45 cm) chain is usually a safe and versatile choice.

FAQs

You can measure your ring size by wrapping a strip of paper or string around the base of your finger, marking where it overlaps and measuring the length against a ruler. You can then compare this measurement with the UK ring size chart to find your size.

If you fall between two sizes, it is usually best to choose the slightly larger size. Fingers can change size slightly during the day and in warmer temperatures, so a little extra room can make the ring more comfortable.

Yes. Wider rings such as wedding bands often feel tighter than narrow rings. Some people choose a slightly larger size for wider bands to ensure a comfortable fit.

If you are buying jewellery as a gift and are unsure of the exact size, an adjustable bracelet or an 18 inch (45 cm) necklace is often a safe and versatile choice.
